I started my journey as a former powerlifter with a hip replacement. My idea of a lot of reps was maybe 3, usually 1 or 2. My idea of eating healthy was to only eat one entire pizza. My blood sugar numbers were out of control, I had acid reflux from carrying too much weight on my stomach, my replaced hip was very weak, my liver functions were trending in the wrong direction, my cholesterol was 265 on meds, I was tired all the time and had very little motivation. I decided to do something about it and outfitted a home gym with little knowledge outside lifting for power and eating anything to gain weight, I was stuck. Then I met Rik Pagan, he was convinced we could change things. We focused on diet, and eating healthier, we focused on slowly strengthening the hip muscles, I learned there is life after 1-3 reps, and that cardio is not my enemy. It has become more than just a diet and workout plan. Rik is changing my lifestyle. My cholesterol is now 162 without meds, my hip can handle carrying cat litter bags, my blood sugars are much more normal, all my liver function tests are normal, I have dropped over 65 pounds in total, my acid reflux disappeared with the belly, pants from 20 years ago fit again, I don't get out of breath going up the stairs, and overall feel better. My 15 year old daughter even has noticed how much better I feel and I was trying to hide how bad I felt before. Rik showed me that there is a path to feeling healthy and functional. It takes a lifestyle change and I'm determined to keep it going.
